— doc index: survive a rebuild, and never wipe on a failed read
Reset drops every derived table, doc rows included, and the doc pass only fired on a tip change or once at boot — so a reindex left documentation silently unsearchable until somebody happened to commit, which on a mirror of a quiet project is never. Observed live: fossil's 173 documents went to zero after a rebuild and stayed there.
ReplaceDocs swaps the whole set, so a pass that found documents and could not read them would overwrite a good index with nothing. It now keeps the previous set and says so. A tree with genuinely no documents still writes an empty set, which is true. (user: dmestas, size: 28964) [annotate] [blame] [check-ins using]
