— Name the per-machine config .env.local, and ship an example
dev.local.mk said nothing about what it held, so the only way to learn what `make dev` needed was to read someone's copy — and there was no copy to read, because it is not committed.
.env.local now holds one named key per setting instead of a single 1,697-character DEV_ARGS line, and the Makefile composes the flags. A key left empty is omitted from the command line rather than passed as an empty string, which the server would read as a deliberate value. Corpus repositories are named once each and their paths derived, rather than --repo name=path repeated twenty-three times.
.env.example is committed and documents every key, including which two are secrets and which of --data and --oltp survives a rebuild.
dev.local.mk is still included, so an existing checkout keeps working, and both names are ignored. Verified equivalent: the old file and the new one produce the same 8 flags and the same 23 repositories.
`make dev-args` prints the composed flags without starting anything. (user: dmestas, size: 1192) [annotate] [blame] [check-ins using]
# Generated fixture stores. `fixtures/build-*.sh` produce these; they are # derived data, they are 599MB, and they are the reason a `zit addremove` # once swept 559MB of stores and a build binary into this repository. # # The scripts and README beside them are source and stay tracked — this # ignores what is BUILT, not the whole directory. fixtures/out/ # Local build output. zig-out/ # Agent tooling's session trace. It is written into the repository by the # harness rather than by anyone working on quarry, it grows with every # tool call, and it was reaching 2MB carried across ten check-ins before # being untracked. Nothing here is quarry's source. .agent-config/ .claude/ # The built server binary. `go build -o quarry` drops it in the repository # root beside the source, where it is the one extra that a careless add # would sweep in — 40MB of derived output, rebuilt by anyone who runs make. quarry # Per-machine serve flags for `make dev`; see .env.example for the keys. # Holds QUARRY_NOTIFY_KEY, so this one is a secret, not just noise. .env.local # The previous name for the same file, still read by the Makefile so an # existing checkout keeps working. dev.local.mk
